Fallen Aspen Leaves on Snow
These aspen leaves came down after an early snow covered the ground. These were growing at about 9,000’ in the Sandia National Forest, east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. In most years the leaves come down before the snow starts so this sight was unusual. New Mexico has very few trees with red leaves; it’s the aspens with their yellow leaves that provide most of the color in the fall.
You can see that a few of these leaves have a touch of red to them.
